The Central Florida Dragon Boat Festival is unique in that it's based in Chinese tradition that dates back 2000 years. It's rich in culture and creates a lot of adrenaline that anyone can enjoy. Participate in a team that runs a 500 meter race with any skill level. There will be entertainment from Disney including the Chinese acrobats, 'Dragon Legend' and the Japanese taico drummers, and belly dancers. There is a wonderful traditional Dragon line dance that is done to awaken the dragon before the races. The event is located at Wooten Park in Downtown Tavares and held on Lake Dora. There will be lots of food and drinks for everybody. The festival is a fundraiser for the Tavares rotary and is our main annual fundraiser. Procedes are to benefit different charities in Lake County. It is a sanctioned BBQ competition that is for families and has wonderful BBQ, a midway carnival, crafters row and a main tent with lots of activity and entertainment for the family. There are concerts, kareoke and many more events for all of the family! Pig on the Pond is a charity event raising money for scholarships for local highschool seniors towards college.
