Prescription Drugs Take-Back event coming to Leesburg on January 26

The Lake County Solid Waste Division and the City of Leesburg Police Department encourage residents to clean out their medicine cabinets of all unwanted or expired ingestible medicines at the Prescription Drugs Take-Back event on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Leesburg Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd. (U.S. Highway 27/441).

Registration deadline for Central Florida Landscape & Garden Fair sponsors, exhibitors and advertisers is Jan. 27

The registration deadline for sponsorship, advertising and exhibitor opportunities for the Central Florida Landscape & Garden Fair is 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27. The fair is being held on Saturday, Feb. 11 and Sunday, Feb. 12 at Ferran Park in Eustis, and will provide the community an opportunity to meet and purchase goods from exhibitors that specialize in landscaping, gardening, irrigation, horticultural, fertilizer, composting, hardscapes and more.

Lake County Parks invites residents to hands-on lesson about water quality

The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to learn about sampling water as a means to monitor water quality at a guided hands-on learning experience along the shores of Lake Akron in Ellis Acres Reserve. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the reserve, located at 25302 County Road 42 in Paisley.

Nature enthusiasts invited to explore The Pasture Reserve during guided hike

The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting nature enthusiasts to explore The Pasture Reserve during a guided hike. The hike will give participants a chance to learn about the restoration activities that the reserve has undergone, and continuing efforts to restore the area to its natural habitat. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the reserve, located off Lake Erie Road in Groveland.
